Overview of Asset Discovery Expert

Asset Discovery Expert (ADE) is an agentless Asset Discovery Expert Tool (ADE Tool) that uses a simple GUI and various protocols like SNMP, LDAP, and TCP/IP to discover assets, including hardware and software.

The ADE tool will discover all the devices attached to your network, the services that the devices run, and the relationships between services and devices to help you better understand the impact of change. ADE tool imports the IT resources it discovers into the CMDB. Newly discovered CIs/assets imported into the CMDB are labeled as such, facilitating their allocation according to organizational categories.

Automatic population of CMDB results in accurate impact of change assessments and effective change control and planning. ADE can be used to discover IT resources at a specific time, for instance by performing an initial scan of the network, but it can also be scheduled to run automatically at preset times.
